Hello all, Fliss here today with a little bit of ooh la la inspiration for the current challenge theme which I hope you'll like.
I've gone for a vintage look after a good rummage through my experiments box and came across a piece of background paper made using the vaseline resist technique which was happily perfect to go with the image I wanted to use.
Here's my creation:
The background paper uses Vintage photo Distress ink with the resist technique and gives a lovely shabby chic effect.
The elegant showgirl is by Kanban and I stamped her with Memories artprint brown then coloured the image with Promarkers and watercolour pencils and die cut the panel.
I made a border using corrugated card recycled from a takeaway coffee cup holder which I painted with acrylics and then sprinkled with tarnished gold embossing powder and heated to melt.
The fleur de lys embellishment was made by stamping the image and embossing with Frantage aged green embossing enamel then cut it out.
I'm hoping that we get a few more entries this week as it's the final week of the French theme and I would like thank those of you that rose to the challenges so magnificently.
Fliss xx

Meet the Guest Designer
This month our Guest Designer is the brilliant - Julia - here's what she had to say about herself
"I was delighted when asked to be the Guest Designer at Make My Monday and I feel honoured to see my work amongst such talented ladies.
I'm a retired teacher with just over 23 years experience and now have time to indulge in my passion for all things inky! My favourite techniques are stamping, any kind of embossing and creating texture in my projects. I've recently ventured into altering pieces and have just finished an on-line paint techniques course run by the amazing British Artist, Andy Skinner. I love many of the Tim Holtz products but will happily improvise in the absence of supplies dictated by his work!
In addition to my paper crafting, I love to sew and embroider and in the last few years I've learnt how to knit home made socks which was something I'd always promised myself I'd have a go at. My other love is my garden but time is now stretched very thinly between all these activities! I'm Mother to one 20 year old daughter and I'm married to a very understanding man!
I look forward to sharing the beautiful projects you will all produce this month - best of all, I can visit each and everyone of you and say hello."
Here are a couple of Julia's works of art
These are fabulous pieces but there is even more over on Julia's blog please do go and take a look.

Fleur De Lys Theme - Mid Week Motivation
Hello everyone, it's Fliss here today with a bit of motivation for the Fleur De Lys challenge in case you're stuck for inspiration, although I have to say if you pop back for a look at the Design team creations you'll find plenty there too!
Hope you like my card which features some dry embossing with the Cuttlebug fleur de lys folder but I've given it a little makeover as you'll see.
I started off with a torn piece of vintage music score - it's well worth checking out charity shops for things like this as I got the entire score of The Mikado for £2.50! I inked it up with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink.
I stamped the Stampendous image with Archival coffee ink and added colour to the panel with pencils and inks.
I embossed a panel of card with the fleur de lys folder and then inked it with Spun Sugar and Crushed Olive Distress Inks. I then trimmed it to the shape you see above and then swiped on a little blue ink.
I can't wait to see some more of your gorgeous creations this week.
Hugs, Fliss xx

Paris Theme - Mid Week Motivation
Hello, it's Fliss here today with your mid week motivation for this weeks Paris theme and being rather inky from making my card for the challenge inspiration, I decided to stay that way and make a tag this time.
I've carried on with the warm Autumnal colours as the weather is rather cold and I thought we could all do with a bit of warming up lol.
Here's the tag I made before I added the embellishments:
I've inked the tag using cosmetic sponges with Distress inks in the following shades - Crushed Olive, Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door, Rusty Hinge and Aged Mahogany. I then stamped on an Artistic Outpost flowery flourish with the Crushed Olive.
I've then added an inked panel embossed with the Cuttlebug fleur de lys folder together with the flourished Eiffel Tower (Prickley Pear), an inked flourish and some stamped text.
As you see, simpler to make than the finished tag appears and hope you like it.
Hugs,
Fliss xx
